“You think I’m lying? I lost the box, believe me, I’m telling you the truth”
“You are telling the truth?” Chitto asked, disconnecting the number.
“Then let’s go to the place where you lost it, maybe we can find it there” Chitto urged, looking serious
“What’s with you? I told you that I lost it and besides, I don’t even know the exact spot I fell into, everything happened so fast, it was just like a flash.”

“Seriously, why didn’t I think of this earlier? I should have gone back to that spot and search for t. I really need to go to that place and get that box. Once I lay my hands on the gold, my life and that of my family’s will change for good. God has finally answered my prayers. And as for Chitto, I must find a way to get him off my net” Rose said in her heart.
“Move it! What are you still thinking? Let’s go there now before someone else finds it” Chitto commanded.
“I was trying to see if I could remember the exact place, but I can’t. Trust me, I’m telling you the truth”
Ebere was just there, watching all that was happening.
“All right then, seems I will call the guy and tell him that I have you” Chitto said, pressing his phone, pretending to be searching for the guy’s number.
Rose was already shaking, thinking on whether to take him there or not, but Chitto’s action changed her mind.
“Wait! Is he trying to search for the number again? I thought he was about calling him before? Ow I see, he doesn’t have the guy’s number. Chitto, I will show you that, you are messing with the wrong girl.” She said in her heart and stood waiting for Chitto’s next reaction.
On having his phone close to his ear, he expected Rose to be shivering and begging for mercy, but she stood calm, watching him.
But Ebere was scared for her friend, she began begging for mercy on her behalf:
“Chitto, she is saying the truth, she doesn’t have it. The injuries on her skin should be enough evidence for you to know that she is saying the truth.”
“Wait! Do you girls think that I’m joking? You think I’m playing here? This man will come straight here and get her arrested, and you too might become her accomplice, so if you know what’s good for you, better advice her now to take me to the place she said she lost the gold”
“Chitto, like I told you, I don’t have it. Which other way do you want me to explain to you that I don’t have it, believe me, I don’t have it” Rose continued explaining.
“Is she really saying the truth? I don’t trust her, she is playing smart with me. There is only one way to find out” Chitto said in his heart and then began leaving.
“Are you leaving?” Rose asked
“You said you don’t have it, there is no point pressurizing you further”
“Seriously, you are leaving” she never believed that Chitto could be easily played like that.
Few minutes later, she took off, to the spot.
Vincent was thinking that life was over for him.
He was so silent, while Emeka conveyed him back to the hotel.
“He is going to kill us” he feared
“Only if you make him. You are in Nigeria now, you won’t be returning to Australia again”
“You don’t know Ernest. He took precautions, because he hate surprises”
“Meaning?”
“He knows about us very well. He also has your number. He might be calling you any minute”
“What? Why do you have to drag me into this?”
“I am sorry, I never knew that things will turn out like this. But let’s face reality here, you should remove your sim card now and break it”
“You are crazy. That’s the number people know me with, I won’t try it. See Vincent, you got yourself into this mess, and please, don’t drag me into it. I beg you”
Rose was walking so fast, not realising that Chitto was following her. Few minutes later, she had a feeling that she was been followed.
“Oh Chitto, you certainly don’t know who you are messing with. I will make you loose sight of me”
And which she did. Chitto lost her.
Minutes later, she was at the spot, hoping to find the box.
While they were still at the hotel, Emeka’s phone began ringing
“No … No… Don’t answer it. It’s Ernest, don’t answer it” Vincent requested, looking so scared
“Relax dude, that’s my woman, Rose.”
“Oh Rose. OK” he murmured, sitting on the bed, looking so weak and scared
“Hello Baby”
“My Love, I am coming to your house now, there is something I would like to show you”
“My house, right now?”
“Yes Baby.”.
“OK, I will be on my way.”
“On your way? You are not at home?”
“Yes, I went to pick up my brother who Just entered the country.”
“All right Baby.”
“Hope you have your own keys to the house?” Emeka asked
“Yes Baby, I am with my own spares. Love you”
“I love you too my princess.” He replied, smiling.
“Seems you love and trust her so much, to the extent of giving her keys to your house?” Vincent asked
“She is my everything. She is the one I will spend the rest of my life with. She is a real woman and God fearing too”
“Hmm, lucky you then” Vincent said
“I know you won’t believe me, because you never believe that any woman can be descent. Don’t worry, when you see her, you will believe she is a real woman, trust me”
They were still talking and his phone began ringing again.
“See here, it’s a foreign number, do you know if it’s Ernest?” Emeka asked, showing him the phone
“Don’t answer it. Please don’t, it’s Ernest, I am sure of it”
“Vincent listen, I have to answer the call and hear what he has to say. If he ask me, I will tell him that I haven’t seen you, you get that? So relax.” Emeka suggested.

Few minutes later, Rose reached Emeka’s apartment and began cooking up a lie she will tell him about how she got the gold.
