The room Omeogor was sleeping in was very close to that of Unku’s, so I quickly ran inside, panting.
The door was already open when I entered.
He left it wide open, making it easy for me to gain entrance.
This world is very strange you know. I never knew that, people are not to be trusted. Do not trust anybody, no matter how convincing and sincere they may sound, do not trust them.
Most times, keep listening to yourself.
Yes, that voice that is always there, telling us the truth is very tiny. You can’t hear it, except you pay close attention. When I was running to Omeogor’s room in fear, a voice was telling me to search for Unku first before running to Omeogor, but I ignored that voice, simply because I was scared.
What a world! Omeogor planned everything so perfectly. Initially, I had the strong believe that he was up to something, but the things he starched to my mind clearly wiped out everything and I fell for his tricks. I never knew that Unku was in the sitting room, speaking with his business associate in China. It was a long phone conversation, that was why he left the room so as not to disturb my sleep.
Omeogor knew about it, and knowing quite well that Unku will be leaving the room and that he will also wear his black robe that night, that was why I believed everything he said. The incidence coincided with his predictions.
Maybe, Unku told him about the call he will be making since he shared most things with him.
For him to have told him about my virginity, means they were really close friends.
So after I ran into his room, I saw him awake. He was already waiting for me.
“Omeogor, I’m sorry that I doubted you, I’m so sorry. Please forgive me, I should have listened and ran away when you advised me to.”
“It’s ok, thank God he hasn’t done anything to you yet. I was also scared myself, that’s why I couldn’t sleep”
“What are we going to do now?”
“We are going to run away? Here is no longer safe. If he finds out that I know about his secret and that you are also aware, I’m telling you, he will kill us both”
Then, I was no longer myself. I began remembering my siblings and my mother who is very sick.
How she will react if she learns of my death. It will mean her instant death.
My Mum is a victim of abusive marriage. And upon that, my horrible father went and married another woman and thereby neglecting my mother completely. The poor woman is sick but this man gives no care about her condition.
My mother is only clinging to life because of her children. She placed her hope on her children.
And this was one of the reasons I was so desperate to get married, to make her happy seeing her daughter getting married. Maybe, the joy will have effect and improve her health..Hmm,..
Omeogor, knowing how clueless I was, played his game so well.
Then, I was panicking, shaking all through, asking him for us to run away before Unku enters the room.
“Yes, that is what we are going to do now. We will run and will never stop, until we make sure we are saved, you hear me?”
And I nodded
Lord, is that how people can deceive? His face then shown all seriousness, as somebody who is so down to earth. The expression on his face was so sincere and convincing, that you would not even doubt for a minute that, he had an evil agenda buried beneath his heart.
God should have given us the privilege to be reading people’s minds, I think that way, the world would have been better.
