Ndubuisi rushed out of his car, shaking that he had hit someone.
The armed robbers who were pursuing Ogechi saw what was happening and then ran back.
Ndubuisi checked the person’s pulse, hoping for her to be alive, but was shocked to discover that, it was Ogechi.
He shouted her name…in shock and then carried her to the car.
Cherry was still not taking it. She tried reaching Ndubuisi who kept ignoring her calls.
“What’s all these now? He dumped the food, rushed out of the house and now he is ignoring my calls, what emergency was he talking about?” Cherry wondered, feeling restive
Ndubuisi was already at the hospital as Ogechi was rushed to the emergency unit.
Ogechi fell unconscious after been hit by Ndubuisi’s car. Her head hit the ground, but Ndubuisi was fast enough to control the car. Though, he wasn’t on full speed.
The way Ogechi’s heart skipped also contributed to her falling unconscious.
Ndubuisi was nervously waiting for the doctor to tell him about Ogechi’s condition.
He then joined his hands and said a little prayer for nothing terrible to happen to her.
Just then, the doctor who was attending to Ogechi met him to inform him about her condition.
When Ndubuisi was facing the doctor, his heart couldn’t stop beating fast, shaking for the news the doctor had to relay.
“Do you have her ID? Something we can use to contact her family?”
And Ndubuisi’s eyes widened, as his heart steeped in deep despair.
He already forgotten about Ogechi, but he found his heart heavy, in great pains. He started missing her, wishing she was still alive.
And he started crying, making the doctor to feel confused.
“Do you know her in person?”
“Doctor, she was my wife” Ndubuisi replied, without even knowing what he said
“Did you say, wife?” The doctor asked, to make sure he heard correctly
And that was when Ndubuisi understood the word that just dropped out of his mouth and he then, fixed his eyes on the doctor. He listened to his heart closely and discovered that, he never stopped loving Ogechi. He allowed his anger to shade his love for her.
Ndubuisi was still looking on, standing, staring directly opposite the doctor’s face, but he wasn’t actually looking at him. He was still listening to his heart which just unveiled the position Ogechi occupied in his heart.
“And now she is gone” he said, as tears continued flowing freely
And the drama displaying on his face got the doctor very confused.
He started wondering whether Ndubuisi lied to him.
“He rushed her in, claiming that, she ran into his car and then got hit, so why is he saying, she is his wife? Is this a case of domestic violence? Did he try to murder her?” The doctor got even more confused.
He then decided to involve the police.
Cherry was no longer herself. She kept calling Ndubuisi, but no way. He wasn’t answering and this made her mind to start going into negative places. She started thinking that maybe, Ndubuisi left to be with another woman that night. And the way he rejected the food kept giving her thoughts more base ground.
And her thought even got more strong ground when one of Ndubuisi’s neighbours, whom she made casual friends with informed her that the lady that came to the house in the afternoon was actually the girl Ndubuisi introduced to them as his wife some months back.
That they stopped seeing her after her video of stealing from a supermarket went viral.
The neighbour had been waiting for when they would see so she can gist her about it but, she was a gossip and couldn’t wait for when Cherry would come around.
