Mama Why season 2 episode 2 by Ngozi Lovelyn
“Get your things, all of them, we are heading back to the village” Ndubuisi commanded, as his face remained squeezed in anger
On hearing that, Ogechi’s heart jumped out of her chest.
“Village? Did something happen to mama?” Ogechi asked, fearing for a bad news.
But Ndubuisi ignored her, dressing up.
She thought that, mama was dead.
“That’s the only possible reason that could make him look like this” Ogechi thought.
She tried asking him if mama was Ok, but Ndubuisi didn’t give him the face to ask him anything. She then did as he was instructed.
“Gather all your things. I mean, all of them” Ndubuisi repeated
At this moment, it dawned on Ogechi that, there was fire on the mountain.
“If there is something you want to say to me, better say it now! Why this strange behaviour? Why asking me to gather all my things, am I not returning here again?” She boldly asked, demanding a quick answer
“Ogechi I said, gather all your things or I drag you to the car like that” Ndubuisi instructed, looking mean with so much resentment in his eyes.
Ogechi felt the furious flares beaming from his eyes.
She then did as she was commanded.
Going back to the village terrified her.
While picking her things, She thought up an idea to reveal her predicament to Ndubuisi.
“Going back to the village is definitely going to expose me before Ndubuisi. I think I better open up and share with him what I’m passing through.”
She then tried to make a move to sharing her problem with Ndubuisi, but her strength wasn’t courageous enough because of the bad mood Ndubuisi was already in.
“I don’t know what is going on in his mind and revealing this kind of stuff to him at this moment is definitely going to be a terrible idea. Dear Lord, just help me. Direct me on what to do, I beg you Lord”
Ndubuisi who was loosing patience waiting for her in the living room decided to storm in on her to find out what was holding her.
As he was about rushing into the room, he jammed Ogechi at the entrance.
“I want to tell you something. I know it’s going to add more pepper to your already bad mood, but I must say it anyway. Can you please sit down while I speak?” Ogechi nervously rushed her words, without looking into Ndubuisi’s face
But at that moment, Ndubuisi wasn’t interested in hearing whatever she had to say.
He went to the wardrobe, picked Ogechi’s clothes that were on sight, stuffed them in a travelling bag, roughly dragged her by the hand, as they made way out of the flat.
He locked his door and then pushed her down the stairs.
Then, Ogechi made up her mind that, she had lost him.
And for not sharing with her whatever it was that was stressing him proved to her that, she was the reason.
While he was dragging her, the motion turned slow as she kept fixing a look on Ndubuisi’s back head, wondering what life has for her next. She also thought where he was taking her.
So many things were racing up in her mind, that she didn’t know when Ndubuisi reached the car and pushed her inside.
On their way back to the village, she kept on crying, asking God why he was keeping calm to her problems, despite trusting in him.
“I lost the battle. He doesn’t even want to listen to me, I think it’s pointless opening up. I wish he can just tell me what is going on. I know it’s about me, but he should atleast tell me” She kept weeping in her heart.
Ndubuisi was looking mean, seriously controlling the steering as they maintained a graveyard silence. Ogechi decided to ask him again what was happening and why he was taking her home.
Ndubuisi still didn’t respond to that.
“Is it about me? Did you later find out that, those women were actually right that I stole those things?” Ogechi revealed out of the desperation foaming in her heart.
On hearing that, Ndubuisi forcefully swerved right, pulling over, without even checking if there was a vehicle coming next to him.
