Cherry who perceived the aroma quickly rushed out of the room to find out where it was coming from.
And she was amply stunned, facing Ogechi who was busy setting the table.
“Good morning” Ogechi greeted
“And what do you think you are doing?”
“I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to make breakfast for everyone” Ogechi said, looking cheerful, as she continued setting the table.
Cherry got struck, struggling to control her emotions.
“I will be in water and soap will enter my eyes. This girl is doing everything possible to destroy my marriage before it even began. And look at her, she doesn’t even look like someone who is in a lot of pains. What is all these now? Who have I wrong in this life? Who is fighting against my destiny? Anytime I come close to achieving something, it will suddenly blow away, why all these?” Cherry got deeply disturbed and sad
She was still standing there, when Ndubuisi entered the living room, fully dressed for work.
He walked past her and headed straight to the dinning table.
He was excited and eager to eat Ogechi’s food again.
Cherry closely observed his face and discovered how bright he was. “This happiness, is it just for a plate of spaghetti?”
Ndubuisi is rubbing his palms together in excitement, waiting for Ogechi to dish the food.
“I can’t believe you are eating my food again” Ogechi said in a happy tone, setting his plate for him.
And Ndubuisi smiled, gazing upon her cheerful face.
Cherry stood there, stunned, watching excited Ndubuisi sitting comfortably to enjoy the food.
He had a first spoon and quickly praised the delicious taste.
“Hmmm…..seriously, I missed your food. You have this unique way of cooking. This is so delicious”
“Really? Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoy it” Ogechi said and started admiring Ndubuisi enjoying his meal.
It was her first time of giving him a very long look and then discovered that, he was even more handsome than she initially thought.
When Ndubuisi observed she was fixing a look on him, he looked back and smiled and Ogechi got interrupted and smiled back. She then remembered that Cherry was still standing across the room.
“Hei… I am so sorry my dear, can you come and have a sit so I can serve you? There is enough for everyone” She requested
And that was when it got to Ndubuisi that Cherry had been standing there.
“Yes baby, come and join us, you are going to enjoy the food. It’s very delicious” Ndubuisi requested
“No, I’m fine. Thank you” she thanked and walked back inside
Cherry was in the room, holding her heart from bursting in tears. She was really hurt by what she saw in the living room.
The lovely way Ndubuisi and Ogechi were exchanging glances kept piercing her heart and she got scared that she was about loosing Ndubuisi all over again.
After Ndubuisi finished eating the food, Ogechi cleared the table and then returned to her room.
Ndubuisi noticed the change in her mood and decided to meet her in the room to ask her what was happening.
“Are you Ok?” He asked
But Ogechi didn’t respond, she had her face looking down.
Ndubuisi sat beside her, thinking that maybe, it was her wounds.
“You see why I told you not to stress yourself, now you are in so much pains once again”
And Ogechi sniffled. And that was when Ndubuisi realized that, her reason for crying wasn’t anywhere near her injuries. And he felt deeply touched. He couldn’t stand her tears.
He held her, and gently pressed his hands on her arms, to calm her down.
“You can tell me dear, what is making you cry?”
And Ogechi raised her head and fixed it on his gaze.
As she tried to speak, her emotions got erupted again. She couldn’t control it as it restricted her from speaking up.
“It’s ok.” Ndubuisi drew her to his arm and started patting her.
Ogechi pushed herself deep into his body, giving Ndubuisi the balance to cup her very tight.
He continued holding her tight, patting her to calm down, so he can tell her what it was that was making her so sad.
