Ndubuisi and Ogechi left to the uncompleted building, the place she slept the previous night to get her phone, but unfortunately, her phone and the money she left in her bag were missing .
And she felt really bad, but Ndubuisi got her happy again after he promised to get her a new one.
“It was really a dangerous idea to have slept in that place, but thank God, those guys didn’t catch you. They would have messed your life.” Ndubuisi said
And Ogechi appreciated God in her heart for delivering her from the hands of bad people.
When Ndubuisi and Ogechi passed the street, most eyes were on them.
“Is she not the same girl that stole from that supermarket?” one of the women selling foodstuffs said, while still fixing confused eyes on Ndubuisi and Ogechi
Some also wondered what Ndubuisi was doing with his first wife, while still having his fiancee already living with him.
Ogechi was busy, walking happily with Ndubuisi, she doesn’t understand what was happening, that almost every eyes was looking at them. Ndubuisi understood and then held Ogechi’s hand.
And Ogechi loved the kind gesture, thinking that, Ndubuisi was been intimate with her, she doesn’t know that, he held her to shut the mouths of people.
“Let them gossip, say whatever they want to say, I don’t care. Ogechi is the one my heart accepts” he then remembered what Ogechi used to tell him, that someone was after her, that she doesn’t steal anything that does not belong to her
“Can I ask you something?” Ndubuisi asked
“Always” Ogechi replied as her eyes sparkled brightly, that she was walking with a man she truly love.
“Why were you so sure that someone fought against our marriage?”
And that wasn’t the question she was expecting.
She doesn’t want Ndubuisi to go down that memory, so that it doesn’t soil his mood.
Ndubuisi noticed the sudden change in her mood and then asked her to forget about it.
“Those were my ugly days. The days I wish can be erased from my memory, forever. The days I was controlled to commit despicable things.” Ogechi continued describing how dark those days were for her as Ndubuisi called her and urged her to stop.
“It’s Ok. I saw how disturbed it made you feel. I am sorry for bringing it up” Ndubuisi sincerely apologised
And Ogechi who was struggling to control her emotions said, OK, as her eyes got teary.
“Look at me” Ndubuisi requested
And Ogechi found it hard to raise her head. She doesn’t want him to see that, she had tears in her eyes.
And Ndubuisi noticed what was happening and then stopped, turned her to face him.
“It’s Ok dear. I didn’t mean to bring those tears to your eyes. I am sorry.”
“But I won’t be fully Ok if the truth still remains hidden. If I had met that father on time, I believe what happened wouldn’t have happened. I would still remained married to you” Ogechi got so emotional as tears covered her eyes.
Ndubuisi felt so bad, studying her face.
“Maybe, I made a mistake by not listening to her. I think it’s time I got to the root cause of everything. Knowing the truth is very important, so I can finally draft my decision. If she is truly saying the truth, then I will have to explain everything to Cherry, that I am still married to Ogechi” Ndubuisi concluded and then hugged Ogechi, not minding who was looking.
Okwuchi was getting tired on how her son kept distancing himself from her. He doesn’t extend their conversations anymore, like he used to. And his reason was because, he doesn’t want her to start disturbing him with the new girl she said she got for him.
But Okwuchi still doesn’t want him to have things his way. So, she decided to force the girl on him by bringing her to his house in the city.
