Ngozi Lovelyn Stories Life Chronicles
My secret about to kill me – the child my husband thinks is his son, my boyfriend wants him back – part 8
I thought I would be going alone, like he did with Grace, but was surprised to see him prepared to take me.
And this got Grace mad
“I said it! I said it!! She is a witch. She has bewitched my husband with her evil charms. Don’t worry, mama is already on her way. Enjoy this brief moment while it last, she will expose all your evil schemes.”
She had so much faith in my mother inlaw. She saw her as the one who had the final say in my husband’s life and the only one who was capable enough to throw me out of the house.
But I still ignored her, and also did my husband.
When we got to the hospital, the doctor asked me the last time I saw my period. So I told him.
“Do you think you are pregnant?” he asked, giving me this casual smile
So I checked myself, I never vomited, nor even felt the urge to, so I said no, that I wasn’t pregnant.
The doctor said ok, and wrote on my file, asking that I run a pregnancy test.
So we went to the laboratory department, where my blood was taken.
When the lab result came out, it was confirmed that, I was pregnant.
My husband couldn’t believe it. He hugged me so tightly as tears dropped from his eyes. Tears of joy. He went mad, shouting “I’m finally going to be a father”
I couldn’t understand it. Grace was also pregnant, what prevented him from reacting the way he did with my own pregnancy?
His excitement turned on the atmosphere of the hospital, as people approached, shaking hands with him, congratulating us.
I was happy, extremely happy that the mouths that called me barren would finally call me, a mother. The mouths that called me “a witch” would finally congratulate me.
I was happy, but behind my happiness lied a hidden sadness.
He wasn’t excited about the news of his own biological child, but excited about another man’s child.
Grace was pregnant with his own child, while the baby in my womb belonged to another man. What an irony of life. What a cruel game life keeps playing with me.
