I never knew that the gift was Chris, my fiance.
Immediately I opened the door, she pushed it wide open.
I only wanted to open the door half way, collect the stuff and shut it back, because I wasn’t fully dressed, not knowing that, Oge couldn’t wait to have Chris see what I was upto.
Buchi was just sitting bare on the bed, covering his downside with duvet.
And Chris saw us. He saw everything.
He was highly disappointed. He didn’t say much, but he made sure to confirm everything Oge told him.
He left, highly infuriated, disappointed and hurt.
The only thing he managed to say was this, “I don’t ever want to see your face again. And this marriage, forget it. It’s never happening again” he left.
Immediately he left, Oge followed suit, to avoid being questioned by me. I had so many questions to ask her. Why did she betray me like that? How did she gather so much hatred for me?
Buchi felt really sorry for me. He tried consoling me, but I pushed him away.
He wasn’t what I wanted. I want Chris back and not his sympathy.
So I dressed up, rushed after Chris, but he was already gone.
I tried calling him, but wasn’t connecting. He already bar my line, maybe. Because, all my efforts to connect with his line were fruitless. When I reached his house, he already packed my things and kept them outside and had his flat, locked.
He didn’t even want to hear me out. I stayed around, in the steps, waiting for him, but he did not come home that day. He left town, maybe.
That was how I lost him. Buchi kept calling, to know how I was feeling. I knew he must be very happy and glad that the marriage didn’t work out, but he shouldn’t get his hope’s high, because I’m never coming back to him. He is only good for friendship and not marriage.
