Jide was in the company of his friends, Bruce and Hassan having a fun gist with bottles of beer. They kept hailing him on how he knew the button to every girl’s heart.
While still at it, his closest friend, Bruce teased him that, his game had come to an end, since he was already tied down with marriage.
“Says who?” Jide retorted
“You Offcourse..You said yes to Ella. But seriously, that babe geh mind, aswear. Her boldness dey shock me”
“And that made her the most foolish girl on earth.” Jide said
His response shocked Bruce and Hassan and they asked him what he meant by that
But Jide remained mute, drinking his beer.
“But you said yes to her, so why referring to her as being foolish?” Hassan asked
“I said yes because of that guy, Sylvester.”
“Wetin Sylvester do?” Confused looking Bruce asked
“He came to that party because of Ella. Which means, he has something for her”
“Guy, you don dey mad oo…. You mean, you said yes to Ella because of that rich man’s son?” Bruce asked, eager to understand what Jide had in his mind
“I know I won’t be needing Ella forever, but I won’t allow her to end up with a guy who is better than me in every angle. That guy is handsome, well educated, and also rich. I shouldn’t give Ella, not even a tiny chance to have something to
do with him. She should end up with someone below my standard and not someone above me”
“You know what? You are crazy. Aaah! You dey listen to yourself so..?” Hassan said
And Bruce still hadn’t understood his point. He continued giving him a questioning look, to speak further.
“Guy see, if Ella gets a tiny chance with that guy, she will realise that, I’m not worthy of her. And may God forbid, if they end up together, she will continue praising her God that she didn’t end up with someone like me. That’s not the life I want for her. I need my girls to live a life where I will continue being the upper man in their lives. I don’t want them to loose that craziness they have for me. That way, I will keep manipulating them, the way I want.”
And stunned looking Bruce, lifted his beer and continued gulping.
But Jide wasn’t interested in their opinion. He had vowed not to allow Ella end up with a man better than him.
“Someone is becoming a narcissist, terrific one at that. If you don’t want that girl, better lay her off and stop this. I’m never supporting this one” Bruce advised
“I tire ooo… This guy don dey craze, I dey tell you…..Guy, snap out of this…haaaar”
But Jide still wasn’t interested in what they were saying.
At Jide’s house, Ella still wasn’t herself.
She kept calling Liz who kept telling her to relax, that she will be with her soon.
And while still waiting for Liz, an idea popped in.
“Yeeees…. I will meet Siv and told him to beg Jide, and tell him that, there is absolutely nothing between us. Yes, that’s a wonderful idea. He is the only one who can help clear this misconception Jide has about me”
