My Life After I Introduced My Girlfriend To My Mother – part 9
I rushed to my mother’s room and informed her that, I can’t find Chidera, that she is no where near the house.
She asked if I have searched azu owere (Azu Owere is the name we call the back of the house in the village, especially ones that have farm on it)
So I rushed there, and from there, the bush, but still no trace of her.
I got so scared.
We started shouting her name, as it echoed out, enough to hear her voice anywhere she was, but still, she couldn’t answer us.
I was shivering, trembling in fear, but my mother nudged me to remain calm, that maybe, she has gone to the market to buy something to cook for us.
“But she is new in this village, she doesn’t know anywhere. She doesn’t even know anyone. And she can’t leave the house, without informing me. I know her, she can’t do such a thing, because she knows how worried I get whenever it comes to her” I tried explaining to my mother, but she was still trying to make me understand the situation from her own point of view, that Chidera wasn’t lost. She had gone to buy something, or maybe to explore the village.
“Calm down and let’s wait for her to come back. It’s too early to get worried” she added
And I was made to sit in front of the house, waiting for her.
I ransacked my head, to know if there was a way she wasn’t treated right, but no clue came to mind.
I continued waiting, but restless, anxious.
30 minutes later, no sight of her.
1 hour later, still no sight of Dera.
I had my phone close to me, so that I don’t miss any call that would come in, incase she calls with a stranger’s number, if she gets missing, trying to locate her way back to the house.
She doesn’t have a phone, because I was still to buy the phone I promised her, after the robbers took hers.
I then, started regretting not getting her one first, before taking her with me to the village. I postponed it till we come back, not knowing that, having a phone is one of the necessities of life.
If she had been with a phone, I would have called, to know where she was.
Ihour later, no sight of her. That was when I finalised that, there was danger.
It was no longer funny.
I kept looking at the direction that leads to the market square, anxiously expecting to see her, still, no sign of her..
2 hours and getting to 3 hours, still no sight of her. I was no longer myself.
I was thinking a lot of things.
She had on several occasions, assured me that, she would never leave me. That she would love me forever.
I also traced my mind to how we spent the night.
She was so happy and over joyous, telling me how she loved my mom. That she is happy she accepted her and also said that, her only worries has been cleared.
According to her, she knows how much I love my mother and that was why she got nervous meeting her and that since she has accepted her, she doesn’t have any worries again and no obstacle again to our love.
It was a very passionate night as we also made love so emotionally.
Remembering our atmosphere before finally retired to sleep and the promises she made to me, I got the conviction that something has happened to her.
I then went to my mom, informing her of my intention to report the matter to the police.
But she didn’t like the idea.
She said that, it’s too early to get the police involved and that, I might be implicating myself, because if they did not find her, her family will arrest me, accusing me of doing something with their daughter.
“Let’s still wait for her, she will come back. I don’t think she is lost, she is not a kid, she will still come back.” she suggested
But she wasn’t understanding it. Because, I would be lost if something happens to her.
