What he asked me to do after I followed him to his village – part 4

And finally, we reached his village.
I met his mother, she was the only one at home, but she wasn’t looking so happy to see me.
She smiled casually and welcomed me, but wasn’t looking excited like someone whose son brought her would be daughter inlaw home.
The environment was calm and neat. It was a duplex. Just normal duplex and wasn’t of expensive edifice.
While he was still bringing out something from his car, his mother requested him to come inside, that she wants to ask him something.

Already, I was feeling pressed and the urge to relieve myself was getting unbearable.
So I started heading inside, to ask where I could relieve myself. They didn’t hear me coming and I overheard them discussing.
She was asking him, why didn’t he informed me first before bringing me to the village. That I may say no.

“She too needs this marriage as much as I do, so I don’t think she will be saying no. And please, wear a cheerful face, I don’t want her to start feeling uncomfortable that you don’t like her. Hope you prepared something. Please get it, I’m hungry” he said.

I overheard them, but I couldn’t get the clear understanding of what the topic was. But I was able to pick one thing from what he said, that he too needs the marriage. That was when I felt my heart relaxing, feeling that we were on the same page.

When I noticed he was coming out, I pretended as if I was just reaching there.
I told him I want to ease myself and he said ok and directed me to the restroom.
When I was about entering inside the bathroom, he asked if I overheard his discussion with his mother and I said No. I asked him if everything was alright, and whether his mother likes me or not.

Instead of replying me, he said I should ease myself first.
I said ok and went inside.
When I came out, I told him that I was done, I thought he would start explaining what he was discussing with his mother, but he didn’t. He said I should sit down and eat.
I told him that, I wasn’t hungry.
And he said ok and started eating.

While he was eating, I kept observing him, asking myself if I was doing the right thing. If I would find happiness with him. Because he was acting so unattached to me. Like, he was preventing himself from developing any connection with me.

After he finished eating, I wanted to clear the table, he said I should leave it, that his mother will carry the plates.

I found it strange.
“I don’t understand. You mean, your mother will clear the table?” I asked again, to make sure I heard right and he said Yes, very audibly.

“But that’s not right. I am here and I should do it and not your mother”

“I don’t like repeating myself” he said, looking very serious

Just then, his mother came and cleared the table.
The whole atmosphere was becoming strange to me. And again, I asked myself if I was doing the right thing.

Even the mother wasn’t even giving me the face to have any discussion with her. She was so mean to me as if she doesn’t like me at all.
When she was peeling melons, I wanted to join her, but she restricted me, saying I should go and be with Makuo, that she doesn’t need me there.
I was still trying to ask her what she meant by, she doesn’t need me there, when Makuo came out and called for me.

I already had questions piling up my heart that I wanted to ask him.
He understood that I had questions and he said, “I can feel your heart and understand you have questions, but don’t worry, tonight, all your questions will be answered” he said and added “and also, avoid my mother. Please”

It was one of the weirdest experiences I have ever encountered in my life.
