Where is Kennedy? Part 3
The next day, Gloria was still struggling to come to terms with getting rid of the pregnancy. She thought deeply on what Kennedy said, about them discussing the matter face to face, like two matured adults. And she then, decided to honour his request.
Finally, they met and she requested him to confirm his stand towards the situation.
Kennedy sighed deeply and said, “well, what happened has happened and I have also thought deeply about it……I….I…..well” he was taking his words slowly, and thus making Gloria to have a sheer thought that, he was about rejecting the baby growing in her.
“Can you cut the story and tell me what you want. Are we keeping the child or not?”
“Can you not interrupt me, please?”
“Then go straight to the point”
And Kennedy exhaled deeply and said “though, I’m not ready, I’m not financially stable to care for a child, but I will do my best”
“Does that mean, you are……?”
“Accepting the child?” Kennedy completed the question
And Gloria, nodded, interested to hear what he would say next and Kennedy nodded yes.
And there was a moment of happiness, joy and love.
And Gloria got happy, thinking that him saying yes, meant, automatic marriage.
That the next thing would be, beginning their marriage proper, but none of that came to play.
2 months turned 5 months, then 6 months and she was worried.
She kept asking and reminding him when he would come to see her family, but Kennedy kept giving promises, that he will still come.
“Don’t worry, I promise you, this month, I’m coming to see your family”
“This is what you have been saying, tell me, Ken, are you still willing to marry me or not?”
“And why entertaining these thoughts again? I said you are mine and the woman I’m spending the rest of my life with, but you should understand my financial situation now. This baby is coming when I’m not too ready to be a father, so allow me some few more time to arrange things, before his arrival.”
“In a nutshell, you are not planning on marrying me, yet?” Gloria asked
“I never said so”
As Gloria tried to shout at him, that he deceived her into keeping the child, he shush her to keep calm, that she should remember her condition.
8 months passed and Kennedy was no longer entertaining marriage topics or any of it’s nature and it was becoming obvious to Gloria that he never had any intention of building a future with her.
And finally, Gloria gave birth to a beautiful daughter.
The both were overjoyed to welcome their bundle of joy.
And Gloria thought that, the arrival of their princess would make Kennedy hasten up things and marry her, but that desire wasn’t even far coming.
5 months after the arrival of their daughter, they were still living together, but not married and Kennedy brought the idea of them traveling to Lagos, so they can introduce their new baby to his parents.
But this decision didn’t go well with Gloria.
She was mad that none of his family members visited them when she had her baby. And none even called her, so what family members are you talking about?”
“My parents and siblings’
“Listen, you are not taking my child anywhere and I am not going with you to see any of your relations.”
Gloria was proving a strong head that she won’t follow him to anywhere, but Kennedy was able to beg her down.
And finally, she accepted.
It was the day they chose to embark on the travel of going home to introduce their little princess to Kennedy’s family, but Kennedy was no where to be found.
She searched for him everywhere, but no sign if him.
She panicked, calling him, but no response.
His phone, his footwear, were still in the house, and the house was still locked from inside, which meant, he was still in the house, but couldn’t be found.
